A surprising urban space – inside and out
The conversion of the Caroli Shoppingcenter poses a primary challenge: how can we create an urban cohesion between the interior of the shopping center and the city of Malmö?
The solution is found in merging the inner and outer design. An indoor sequence of urban spaces and connecting paths drags the city’s structure inside and provides a framework for the build-up of the center. At the same time, the center opens up and becomes a natural destination on the way through the city. The future Caroli Shopping Center acts as a coherent urban space that surprises and captures the visitor’s interest. It is welcoming towards the surrounding city and adds an extra and positive dimension to shopping.
