Spetsamossen is an area situated in the centre of Växjö and due to its size and design has the potential of becoming the city’s new central park. The area is a former marshland which today has been partially drained and functions as an urban park. The aim of the new design of the park is to make it more urban and alive, and to create greater safety for its users. A through path network will help highlight the park’s two main elements: the urban part with activities such as a skater track, pavilions, barbecue area and sand tracks as well as the open green part: a common with room for everyday leisure activities and major events such as concerts and fun fairs. The area is waterlogged and therefore the ground on the common is treated in such a way that the surplus water can be led towards a series of pockets with rushes and reeds that can absorb some of the water.
