Favrholm Sport City is a visionary project – an athletic landscape shaped by nature as its central recreational element. The project transforms the existing cultural landscape and creates new connections to the surrounding forests to the west, east, and south. At a local scale, the emerging landscape offers biodiverse nature spaces, vibrant urban environments, and modern sports facilities woven seamlessly together.

The masterplan is built on four main elements that intertwine nature, culture, movement, and community into a cohesive narrative designed to evolve over time. The plan is both robust and flexible, allowing for temporary activities and early growth layers – organic as well as cultural – to take root as the area develops.
Forest Planting • Terracing • The Heart Loop • The tree trunks/Columns

The glade, thickets, ditches, forest meadows and woodland ponds are reinterpreted as spatial and functional anchors within the masterplan. At the same time, the tree trunk and canopy serve as defining architectural elements that unify buildings and public spaces into a coherent whole.
We promote environmental sustainability by planting new forest areas, which not only reduce the overall CO₂ footprint but also enhance urban life by providing shade and natural temperature regulation.

Favrholm Sport City will play a significant role in achieving DGNB Gold certification for the wider Favrholm district through its strong green strategies. Reaching DGNB Gold requires early and coordinated process planning with Hillerød Municipality, stakeholders, and future residents. The certification work is already integrated into the design proposal through analyses of microclimate, green factor, and biodiversity.
