Kragh&Berglund has designed and planned the transformation of the park Den Grønne Kile in Sydhavn, Copenhagen. Existing, worn-down and unused grass areas have been transformed into a continuous park with a focus on biodiversity and spatial plantings.
Small hollows and hills of around 0.5 -1 m create sequences and spatial qualities throughout the trimmed grass area. On the hill formations, perennials bushes and solitary oak trees have been planted, whereas perennial seed mixtures have been sown and alder trees planted in the hollows.
By removing a few trees and the establishing screening plant beds along the edge of the area, spaces for different needs and functions have been created: open fields for ball games and smaller, more intimate spaces for recreation and tranquility.
The new park is a green corridor connecting Sydhavn School with nearby neighbouring communities.
