The village

The children’s city contains both the city and the village – farming and nature – everything that also characterizes Lundtofte and the village’s historical context. By organizing the outdoor spaces according to this motif, proximity and clarity are created. The institution is broken down into smaller units to create a sense of security for both children and staff. While areas like square and the city park serves as common gathering points, the winding roads and railways, haylofts and campfire huts give children the opportunity to create their own stories.

A strong and flexible concept

Bulderby is built on a simple but strong concept: the village at child height. Precisely because the concept is so solid, it can change shape and scale without losing its recognizable identity. The four character areas – Vesterby, Torvet, Sønderby and Skoven – can be adapted to different contexts, sizes and needs, while at the same time carrying the same story and quality with them. This makes the Children’s Village both robust and flexible, and can be further developed as needs change.

Inspired by Astrid Lindgren’s stories, Børnebyen will be a place where only imagination sets the limits. Børnebyen Bulderby is more than a playground – it is a universe where architecture, landscape and story are woven into a seamless place.
