Kragh Berglund has designed and planned gardens for a residential area in Solna, Sweden. The gardens are established on a deck covering the parking lots.
The gardens vary in design and altogether serve as recreational areas for the residents, bike parking, spaces for play and entrance zones.

Various nursery beds create visual interest and ecological and recreational values throughout the year. Deciduous trees such as birch (Betula) and maple (Acer) are combined with coniferous trees like pine (Pinus) to provide variation in height and structure.

Plants adapted to wet conditions are placed in hollows to increase biodiversity and support natural cleansing of the rainwater.
To ensure the project’s climate goals were met, the calculation tool Grönytefaktor (Green Space Factor) was used. As the soil conditions in certain areas were less stable, underground reservoirs were chosen as the stormwater management solution instead of open stormwater systems. Along the street, six new trees were planted in beds with structural soil beneath the ground surface to manage stormwater flows and heavy rain along Godsvägen.

The pavement materials were chosen with regard to durability and aesthetic expression. Main paths are paved with stabilized gravel for strength and to provide a natural feel, while recreational areas are covered with permeable materials for drainage.
Street furniture – including benches, waste bins, and light poles – is made from robust and weather-resistant materials.
