Green student housing
The project at BaseCamp is a new way of thinking about housing, and the ambitious project will accommodate approx. 800 new homes. The housing units are a combination of senior housing, PhD and college housing under one roof, which create diversity and dynamics in the residents’ composition. Kragh & Berglund is responsible for the landscape design on terrain and roof, transforming the area into a recreational green spot in the city. Focus is mainly on nature, health and movement.
BaseCamp is located in a characteristic green area in Lyngby, surrounded by Sorgenfri Cemetery to the north and east, and Lyngby Lake to the west. The landscape design maintains the green character of the area. An organically twisted pathway ties the area together. The planting has a park-like and lush nature with scattered trees and a large variety of areas with mowed grass, tall grasses and perennials.
The organically formed building can be experienced from the rooftop via a public path that winds across the building up to six floors with views over Lyngby lake and the surrounding areas. The shape of the building create interesting spaces along the facades as well as in the internal courtyard with small terraces, living areas and fitness equipment and playground.
