Kragh Berglund’s design proposal for Östra Strand has as its main goal to create an ecological and sustainable solution while making it an accessible natural environment for the future residents. The social sustainability is also a focus, with mixed housing types and several gathering areas that welcome everyone, regardless of age or background. The new residential area in between the existing forest will provide single-family houses as well as other alternatives for those who prefer to live in community buildings.

The central core of the residential development is an activity stretch that offers a variety of functions and activities. Here, one can find opportunities for different seasons, age groups and interests, with playground facilities, gardening, animal feeding, sauna, bathing area, outdoor gym and grill areas. As a part of the activity stretch, one is also able to find a shared bicycle and car tool workshop. The stretch offers good opportunities for encounters between people and the community.

Östra Strand will become an ecologically and socially sustainable district, accessible and welcoming for everyone, where people can live in harmony with the nature.
