In 2014, AAB department 50 was starting a big energy renovation. DOMUS architects improved the buildings while Kragh Berglund worked on the landscape – creating attractive outdoors spaces, where the focus is meetings between people. In the process we have focused on user involvement – workshops with the residents have created new ideas for the design, and the residents can see their ideas realized in the new outdoor spaces.
The big buildings were providing challenges with scale, light, wind and security. Kragh Berglund worked a lot with user involvement, our focus was to create spaces where the human scale is represented and to work on exploiting the areas with sun. “Solstriben/The sun ray” an axis going through the area is the space with the most hours of sunshine – this axis is the central place where we create room for activity, meetings and recreation
Local drainage of rainwater is an integrated part of the project, using water as a resource for play and experiences in the area – disconnecting the rainwater from the sewer system
Our work has created spaces for play, experiences and community – the areas give opportunities for barbeque, community, play, games, playground, a small hill, sensory gardens and fruit groove for contemplation. The project has created an area where there is a high sense of community, creating a nice, safe space for the residents.
