Plug N Play – a temporary generator for city life
Ørestaden was in 2008 facing media coverage giving the area a bad reputation. Kragh&Berglund won the competition having to create a temporary urban space in Ørestad Syd, where focus had to be on creating communities, city life and positive attention. The area was completed as a temporary urban space in 2006 and as planned it was closed in 2016 for new urban development to continue.
Plug N Play is Copenhagen’s new laboratory for movement in the urban space. Plug N Play is an activity park with predominantly sport activities – it is built after the philosphy to be able to plug different temporary activities on an existing infrastructure, where water, electricity and storage space is already there to exploit. The goal was to generate city life in the new urban area Ørestad Syd.
