Here it grows.
Steeplepladsen is a completely unique place with enormous significance for many people. It is Copenhagen’s last integrated example of what in its time made the city grow, namely fishing. It is a place for big and small, straight and crooked existences, where a very special community drives the balance of diversity. It is composed over time, unplanned, but at the same time subject to some common framework. It’s full of humor and touch. Most importantly, it contains a sea of qualities that must and must be preserved in the development of Stejlepladsen.
The proposal works with a vision and approach based on 8 dogmas – 1. Build as close and low as possible, 2. Support biodiversity and build green and based on LAR, 3. Build mixed forms of ownership, 4. Support communities, 5. Create space for self-builders, a building group and self-grown structures, 6. Create a car-free district, 7. Build smart, sustainable and cheap, 8. Distribute sun and wind equally.
