Playground in Sladdparken ”ledningsparken”
Kragh & Berglund has participated and won the parallel assignment for programming and design of a new playground in Vasasparken, one of Västerås’ largest parks, centrally located in the city between the station and the town hall. By establishing the playground, movement and play become a natural part of the park’s everyday environment, much to the delight of the city’s residents. At the same time, it is located so that it welcomes travelers so that locals and visitors, young and old can meet.
The city’s proud industrial history has been the source of inspiration. The steel construction “Sladden” creates an interactive and multifunctional play sculpture consisting of metal “wires” that twist and sneak around each other and form spaces for different types of play and movement. It refers to ABB, a local electricity and energy company which during the industrialization was world-leading and leading the way. In addition to being beautiful, the play sculpture becomes a place where you can climb, balance, sit, see and move, it is only the fantastic that sets the limits. Sladdparken will be the park’s new energy generator.
