Kragh&Berglund designed the landscape for the care center Tornhøj, in a hilly green landscape. The focus was on creating varied and attractive rooms, with different activities that are comfortable to live in. The care center is listed as general housing.
The outdoor area is divided into smaller units with different typologies that are surrounded by shifting meadows flowing in and out of the settlement. Closer to the buildings there are more cultivated landscapes with mowed lawns and in the central courtyard; the sensory garden. The contrast between the mowed lawn and the high and flowering pastures is clear, giving a variation in spatialities and experiences. Throughout the year there is variation in plants, colors and flowering that creates an interesting outdoor environment. The meadows, lawns and the perennials have a low level of care. The paths have an organic and calm form, and the pavement is suitable for wheelchairs. The paths sling in and out of the settlement and landscape and creates small niches and clearly defined shapes.
